Salt House Wedding

Wedding at stunnig Salt House

Based in Manchester and having photographed countless weddings, I’m always drawn to venues full of character and charm—so when Salt House popped into my diary, I was over the moon. Salt House (also known as Standon Hall) sits in the heart of rural Standon, and it couldn’t have felt more perfect for this Salt House wedding.

The bride kicked off the day surrounded by her seven bridesmaids—a proper bridal squad—in one of the venue’s cosy suites. A talented makeup artist and hairdresser kept the prosecco flowing and the giggles going, so everyone was looking picture‑perfect for the cameras. Meanwhile, the groom rolled in a little later (gentlemen and their minimal prep needs, am I right?), joined by his best man to polish off final fittings and share a quick toast.

When the ceremony began, seventy excited guests packed into the venue’s elegant ceremony room. There’s something about capturing that hushed anticipation on people’s faces that really excites me as a wedding photographer. Once vows were exchanged, everyone spilled out into the entrance of Salt House’s stunning garden for a confetti shower—confetti in hair, on shoulders, you name it. Next up were the classic family portraits (always a fun one, especially when great‑aunts sneak in cheeky faces), then a breezy wander around that marvellous garden for bride‑and‑groom shots. The light filtering through the trees made for some of my favourite wedding photography of the year.

Dinner followed in the main hall, where long tables were decked out with twinkling candles and blooms. The speeches had us roaring with laughter one moment and wiping away a tear the next—perfectly emotional and utterly heartfelt. As evening fell, extra guests joined the party, the cake cutting kicked things off in style, and a music got everyone on the dance floor. Indoor sparklers lit up the first dance, and from there we partied until late.

If you’re hunting for a wedding photographer who knows how to capture genuine moments—whether it’s at Salt House or anywhere else in the North West—give me a shout. I’d love to chat about turning your big day into a gallery of memories!
