I know you must have lots of questions. Your wedding is one of the most important days in life you will ever experience. I want to make this part easier for you with answering some of your questions from the beginning, but please reach out to me, anyways. I would love to speak with you and answer any more questions you might have that aren't listed here.
Who will photograph our wedding?
When you select BeardedCamera, I can guarantee that I (the guy with the beard) personally will photograph your wedding, and as both the business owner and camera operator, you will also be assured that you will receive the very best that I have to offer. Every. Single. Time. The additional photographer can be arranged if your commission requires. The second photographer is chosen from a short list of very talented people I am used to working with and is responsible for shooting the groom getting ready, providing a second angle on the ceremony and reception, and assisting the lead photographer with off-camera lighting for creative portraits.
What is your style?
My style is most often described as “creative documentary”. I am creative, storytelling photographer. My goal is to document your wedding day as truly and creatively as possible without interference from me. I want to capture moments as they happen allowing me to get some breathtaking, emotional images of you two, your guests genuinely interacting during the wedding and the way you move through your day together. However, I also put a lot of energy and time into your “creative portraits”, which are the photos of just the two of you. I look for interesting light, angles, and backgrounds, and often use unusual, experimental techniques to turn your wedding portraits into works of art. All of the images you see on my website are from real weddings and portrait sessions that I have been commissioned to photograph.
Do you offer destination wedding photography or travel elopement photography?
Absolutely yes! I love travelling and I love destination weddings — large or intimate. I enjoy shooting all over Europe. I love destination weddings and the opportunity to take photos of my lovely couples in totally new and unique settings! I typically ask to arrive at least one day early to scout the location and mitigate the possibility of a delayed flight. I also ask for at least one day to myself to explore your beautiful location of choice. Tell me about your destination dreams and I will work together to capture them. I include the day after sessions in all destination commissions, to truly allow for the creation of additional impactful portraits without wedding time/location constraints. Please contact me for more information.
How do we arrange your travel?
I will book my own airfare, hotel, and transportation, so you don’t have to worry about a thing.
Will you travel for engagement sessions as well?
I am happy to come to your city/country or meet you at a fabulous destination of your choice. Please contact me for specific information.
We wish we could meet with you, but we don’t live in the same city/country. Is there an alternative?
The majority of my couples hire me without an in-person meeting. I am very quick, and very thorough, with emails and phone calls and I am able to answer most questions in those ways. However, I am happy to schedule a Skype video meeting. A lot of my out-of-town/country clients have done this, and I love it! We can always find a time and method that works!
How do we know that you will do a good job?
I have photographed more than 250 weddings since 2004. Those varied experiences working with hundreds of different venues lends me a level of practical and artistic experience that I will bring to bear on your wedding day. But the real proof is in my vast public portfolio of wedding photography. And that work reflects the kind of photography you can expect from me on your wedding day. If that doesn't do it for you, check out a few reviews from my past clients at my website Testimonials.
What is your wedding photography pricing?
Please contact me with your date/location and information about what is important to you on your wedding day for availability and starting rates. I can customize commission for my couples. Once I learn more about you and your wedding, I can create an incredible album and artwork combination for your specific needs/aesthetic.
How do we book you?
It is important that we are a good fit. You deserve the best, and I want to make sure that I am the right choice for you. I would absolutely love to meet you and hear about your wedding. Please fill out the form on the contact page with your date and information and I will get back to you as soon as possible because I am fast like that. I will set up either an in-person consultation in my Manchester photography office or alternatively, if you are a little further away, we can arrange a phone call or Skype call with you both. Booking requires a £400 retainer and signed contract, remaining payment will be due before by the wedding day or event. Everything can be done online.
Can you hold our date for us?
I can not guarantee your wedding date until the booking retainer has been paid and the contract is signed. If you are the first to contact me for a date, you will have 48 hours preference to book if another couple expresses interest to book that same date. I only accept 1 full wedding a day.
Where can I see examples of full weddings you've photographed?
Samplings can be found on my website Wedding Stories or my blog. I deliver 600-1200 images per wedding based on its size and duration. My comprehensive, quality coverage and experience photographing weddings for over 14 years ensure you leave with an image collection that truly WOWs!
Do you photograph details and family group photos?
Yes! A wedding photography collection would not be complete without wedding details and family photos. I take all the photographs you would expect out of any wedding photographer but my goal is to also go past those expectations and give you photographs that you never even imagined.
Should I give you a shot list?
I do not require a shot list or any sort of checklist because I am very thorough in capturing every element of your special day, including photos of your dress, rings, jewellery, shoes, flowers, food and venue décor. Although bridal magazines and blogs may recommend that you ask this question of your photographers, my experienced peers will all agree that working from a lengthy list on a busy wedding day is virtually impossible. I have photographed hundreds of weddings and I simply don't need to work from a list. If you need a photograph of something important that you think I won't notice then, by all means, tell me about it, but otherwise please trust to my experience in storytelling. I will be sure to capture the most important moments of your day. However, you will be asked to provide a list of exact family members for your family pictures through a questionnaire you will fill out before the wedding.
When will we see our photographs?
Within a few days of your wedding, I will release a teaser of images on my blog. Because I take such care in making sure all your edited photographs will look great for years to come, completion takes about 3—5 weeks depending on the scale of your wedding and the time of year. At that time, your online gallery will be made available for you and all your friends and family to see.
How many images will we receive?
I strive to deliver quality over quantity. I would rather give you a smaller collection of photos that will blow you away rather than a large amount of “pretty good” or “okay” images. On average, my wedding couples will receive 600-1200 images. Don’t worry, your story will be captured and delivered completely and beautifully! With every wedding package, each couple receives a USB hand wrapped and delivered straight to your door.
Do you edit all of our photographs?
Yes, I do! Every image that you receive has been hand-edited, one at a time, without batching in bulk groups or mass-producing the results.
Do we receive the RAW, unedited files?
The RAW, unedited files are not available for viewing or purchase. The RAW files are basically useless to you in its current state. You are hiring me not only to provide a product — the finished image — but a process as well. Without the process, there actually is no finished image. That process means editing out the bad frames and processing the rest in a way that only a professional photographer can.
Can we own the rights to the pictures?
As industry standard, I retain rights to the pictures themselves but give you full printing rights. I put a lot of effort, love and care into your photographs and would love nothing more than for you to share them with your family and friends! Feel free to share them whether it be through albums, prints, your online gallery, e-mail, Facebook or your personal blog. While not necessary, if you are posting online, I would wholehearted appreciate if you could give me a little shout out so that your friends will know who to get ridiculously awesome photographs from. I would also appreciate if you could avoid cropping or altering the photos you post online (unless necessary) as they represent my work and I go to great lengths to bring out the very best in every photo.
Do you offer albums?
Yes, I offer a variety of beautiful customized Italian wedding albums. I design and compile them by myself, and have them printed and delivered to you. Because my fine-art albums are fully tailored to you the best thing to do would be to contact me if you are interested in one, and I can let you know all of your options. To see some photographs of my fine-art wedding albums take a look at my album page.
What kind of gear do you use?
While a great photographer can take incredible pictures with just about anything, having the right tools and knowing how to use them only pushes the potential of great photos further. I use all the best gear necessary for my style. I shoot exclusively with Nikon professional gear, including full-frame bodies, fast primes, professional zooms and a variety of lighting equipment both on and off camera. My favourite wedding camera is my D4.
Do you have backup gear?
Absolutely. When you are photographing such an important day and only have one shot at it, you have to make sure you have back-ups of everything. Camera bodies, lenses, flashes and way more memory cards and batteries than I need at all weddings. Its an important day, I tend to be over prepared.
Do you offer wedding video/cinematography?
I do not. I specialize in photography and can recommend a video team that suits your style once we have a chance to meet.
How long have you been in business?
I made the transition from hobbyist photographer to a professional photographer in 2004. Since that time I have documented over 200 first kisses.
My fiancé/fiancée is uncomfortable having his/her picture taken. How can you help him/her on the wedding day?
I am very calm, focused and confident person who tend to blend into the scene rather than bring attention to myself and my camera. That, combined with my documentary style, will have you both used to me within the first half-hour of your getting-ready time. Most couples tell me it felt like I was just part of the guests, hanging out with everyone. The only time you will really be aware of the camera is during the family group photo and the creative portraits, and during this time I will guide you through everything. You can just be yourselves, and I will take care of the rest.
Have you shot at my venue before?
I have shot at hundreds of venues, so there is a good chance that I have. However, if I have not, I will get to the venue early on the day of and be sure to perform a thorough walk-through to scout out the best photography locations. I also do extensive online research prior to your big day!
Do you have experience shooting multi-cultural weddings?
Yes, I love the beauty and uniqueness in every different culture’s wedding traditions and have experience documenting a variety of different types of wedding ceremonies.
Are you insured?
Yes. Absolutely. 100%. For sure. Yes, yes, yes! Public Liability, Products Liability, Professional Indemnity, Material Damage, and Equipment, I am fully covered internationally. I am happy to provide a certificate of insurance upon request.
Do we need to feed you at the reception?
It would be really lovely if you do. The last thing you want on your wedding day is an exhausted photographer. Just remember I am going to be working for 10+ hours that day and you don't want my energy to flag just as the party gets going. I prefer to be fed when you are fed, not afterwards, because when you are eating you are not at your most photogenic. And when you are done, I want to be done as well to continue your coverage.
